Author Essay

I was captivated by the beauty of Demetria’s writing but I also loved the book because
it taught me a lot about the sanctuary movement. I also find fiction that teaches while
it beautifully entertains to be the best sort of fiction. I had the pleasure of meeting Demetria
and what a thrill it was. I was so in awe of how strong and determined she is as a journalist
who stuck to her guns during all the real life sanctuary events she was involved in. She has
a real quiet dignity about her. She’s a true artist. I look forward to reading more of her
work in the future.
