Randolph Nesse, MD, is a cofounder of the field of evolutionary medicine, which was launched twenty years ago with his coauthored book Why We Get Sick–and which has sold more than 100,000 copies in paperback and been translated into eight languages. He has served on the faculty of Michigan University, Stanford University, and University College London. He currently serves as the founding director of the Center for Evolution & Medicine at Arizona State University; is also the president of the International Society for Evolution, Medicine & Public Health; and is the editor of The Evolution and Medicine Review.
