About the Author
Ted Henken is a doctoral candidate in Latin American studies at Tulane University’s Stone Center for Latin American Studies. He has traveled to Cuba extensively to conduct research and attend academic seminars. His current research concerns the intersection between Cuba’s second economy (cuentapropistas) and its emerging tourism economy. Currently Tulane’s Cuban Studies Institute’s in-country liaison and program coordinator in Cuba, Henken was born and raised in northwest Florida.
