Author Essay

Dear Reader,

Welcome to the “Moon Shifter” series! Twenty years ago the various shifter Councils around the globe united and decided to reveal their existence (along with other supernatural beings) to humans. Mankind now knows they’ve been living alongside those who can shift into animal form and some who must drink blood to survive.

Even though two decades have passed since their big reveal, it has given ignorant humans time to gather numbers and strength for their cause against shifters and vampires, beings they fear simply because they are different. Believing they aren’t a threat, paranormal beings ignored the existence of groups like the Anti Paranormal League, allowing them to grow unchecked. Now Connor Armstrong’s new lupine pack is paying the price.

Ana and Connor are the two main characters in Alpha Instinct, the first novel in this new series. They have a history together, which is a theme I absolutely love in romance, regardless of subgenre. I love when two people get a second chance because it brings up the question of what kept them apart the first time around and shows what’s different between them this time. In Alpha Instinct Ana doesn’t know why Connor left her so many years ago so this romance starts off with a lot of tension between them.

Ana loves her sisters and packmates more than anything. After all the males in her pack are killed by a mysterious poisoning, the remaining lupine shifters band together, and Ana is forced to take on the role of pack leader. But without an Alpha, the pack is vulnerable to her neighbor Taggart who wants not only their land, but Ana in his bed as well.

When sexy Scottish shifter Connor Armstrong comes back into her life, promising protection, it’s almostenough to make Ana forget how he walked out on her before. Yet she can’t forget the way he left without a single word, as if all the time they’d spent together meant nothing to him. She’s forced to put aside her pride to save her pack. Violent attacks are escalating in town and she has no doubt that sooner or later people are going to start pointing fingers at her kind regardless of evidence. Unless they can figure out who’s targeting them and why, a few cattle mutilations and property damage will be the least of their worries. And if Connor doesn’t gain her trust, he’ll never get the chance to claim the only woman he’s ever wanted by his side.

Warning: Expect a feisty heroine who isn’t afraid to use her claws, an adorable little jaguar cub who has no problem causing mischief, and a sexy Alpha wolf who’s willing to do whatever it takes to keep his mate and pack safe from any threat—especially the increasingly violent group the Anti Paranormal League.

I hope you enjoy Alpha Instinct and all the characters introduced in this new series. If you have any questions, please feel free to visit my website, email me at, or follow me on twitter. I love hearing from readers.

Happy Reading!
