Schulz (Jewelry School: Let’s Start Beading, 2016; Jewelry School: Bead Stringing, 2018) offers a new book on a very specific type of embellishment. Tassels have been used in a number of ways for a range of purposes by many cultures going back centuries, but the primary application here is in jewelry making. The techniques required to create a tassel are summed up in two pages of instructions covering typical, rolled, and hidden wrap tassels and are illustrated by two-color diagrams. As the series name suggests, 20 projects demonstrate a variety of ways tassels can be used and showcase a number of materials. The jewelry projects include necklaces, brooches, bracelets, and earrings, and the remaining few use tassels in home decor, such as lampshades, a table runner, and a candle wrap. The written project instructions consist of around a dozen steps and assume some knowledge of jewelry-making technique and tool use. The basic technique is explained at the beginning of this book. Projects range from tassel jewelry to home decor. See the complete table of contents listed below. Most of the tassels in this book are made with embroidery floss. Other materials explored are – wool, gold chain, beads, feathers, suede, fabric and hemp. In some cases jewelry making tools and materials are required – things like pliers and findings.
