    Blue Star Press Acquires Sasquatch Books, Expanding Strategic Partnership with Penguin Random House

    Blue Star Press, an independent publisher based in Bend, Oregon, is pleased to announce that as part of its ongoing partnership with Penguin Random House, it has entered into a 10-year extension of its sales and distribution agreement and acquired Sasquatch Books. The deal was announced today by Peter Licalzi, CEO, Blue Star Press, and Jeff Abraham, President of Publishing Operations, Technology, and Services, Penguin Random House. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

    Announcing the 2024 Creative Writing Award Winners & $10,000 Scholarship Recipients

    Six exceptional public high school seniors from across the country have been chosen as winners of the 2024 Penguin Random House Creative Writing Awards in partnership with We Need Diverse Books, a national grassroots organization that advocates for diversity in children’s literature. This year marks the first time the Freedom of Expression Award has been presented.

    May is Mental Health Awareness Month, observed at this time each year since 1949, when it was established by Mental Health America. America is in the midst of a mental health crisis. It’s more important than ever to reduce the stigma around mental health struggles so that people are more willing to ask for help.

    PRH Canada & U.S. Literary Treasure, Alice Munro, Nobel Literature Laureate, Dies at 92

    On May 14, 2024, Penguin Random House Canada shared the sad news that beloved Nobelist author Alice Munro has died at the age of 92 in her home in Port Hope, Ontario. In Canada, McClelland & Stewart has long been the proud publisher of Munro’s fiction and Penguin Canada is the longtime publisher of Alice Munro in paperback. In the U.S., Munro is published by Alfred A. Knopf and Vintage, where she was edited by Ann Close since 1978.
