Gertrude Stein

About the Author

Gertrude Stein (1874-1946) was born in America and attended Radcliffe College, but lived abroad for the rest of her life, mostly in Paris, where she was a premier member of the Parisian avant-garde. Even among the Cubist painters who were her friends, her work stands out for its boldness, its invention, and its early and joyous commentary on lesbian sexuality.
