About the Author

Carol M. Highsmith is a modern day historical photographer who has captured the rebirth of Washington’s Pennsylvania Avenue corridor and Union Station, the splendor of the Library of Congress, George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate, the U.S. Botanic Gardens, and the capital city’s foreign embassies; and memorable restoration projects in all fifty U.S. states. She is donating her life’s work to the Library of Congress, which has created the Carol M. Highsmith Archive to receive it.
