About the Author

Erica Lima, LCSW, is a licensed therapist who special-izes in working with people who have experienced trauma and childhood neglect and who struggle with people-pleasing, perfectionism, relationship OCD, and more. She holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a master’s degree in social work from Arizona State University. Erica has received specialized training in Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Somatic Parts Work (IFS) with Level 3 Certification, Somatic Attachment Therapy, Hakomi therapy, and Cultural Somatics for Racial Equity. Her integrative approach is founded on a strength-based, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive perspective, acknowledging the impact of systemic oppression on marginalized communities, and prioritizing a safe, anti-discriminatory environment in therapy. She takes great care and values mutual trust in working with people of color. She also supports white individuals seeking to heal from internalized white supremacy.

Raised on the outskirts of Charlotte, North Carolina, Erica now cherishes the beauty of the vibrant city life. Her passion is to support those in the helping professions and others on a path to loving themselves more fully and cultivating genuine connections in their relationships.

Sostenes and Erica own and operate Sunset Trauma Therapy, a private practice based in California and North Carolina, where they work with individuals and couples to address experiences of trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, family-of-origin conflicts, self-esteem issues, burnout and compassion fatigue, grief and loss, parental stress, relationship difficulties, mood disorders, and more.
