About the Author

Helen M. Luke was born in England in 1904. In mid-life she studied at the Jung Institute in Zurich and then established an analytical practice with Robert Johnson in Los Angeles. In 1962 she founded the Apple Farm Community in Three Rivers, Michigan, "a center for people seeking to discover and appropriate the transforming power of symbols in their lives." Helen Luke was the author of four other books, including Old Age, a classic text on how to age wisely. She died at Apple Farm in 1995.
