Running Scared

I have been looking forward to the release of this book since Zach and Lexi appeared in the first chapter of book one of The Sentinel Wars. I knew when I wrote that scene years ago that the two of them belonged together, but that Lexi was going to fight it every step of the way.

Zach's life has been hell since Lexi stabbed him and ran off, taking his hopes and dreams with her. He's been searching for her ever since, and despite the magical tracking device he placed on her, she's inexplicably vanished. She holds his life in her hands, and yet she abandoned him.

Lexi has secrets she must keep hidden. Ever since her mother's murder, she's been on the run from men like Zach. But now that her friend has been taken hostage by these intriguing, dangerous men, she knows her days of running are over. It's time to fight back and rescue her friend from the Sentinels' clutches.

As Lexi uncovers the truth about the Sentinels, she realizes that things are not what they seem and that there's more to these people than she could have ever imagined. Everything she knows is turned on its head and her whole view of the world is at risk of being destroyed. As she questions herself, Zach is there by her side, protecting her, refusing to leave, demanding things of her she knows she can never give.

This book was so much fun to write, because not only did I get to spend a lot of time with a hot, tattooed, sword-wielding warrior like Zach, I also got to go back and revisit old characters as well as developing the stories for some newer ones. Fans of Burning Alive will learn more about how things have changed for Helen, as well as the spunky Miss Mabel, while fans of Finding The Lost will get more of a glimpse inside the tortured mind of Nika Madison.

It's easy for me to get lost playing in this world full of hot men, strong women, magic and monsters. As I write this letter, I've finished book 4 (Living Nightmare) and am halfway through book 5 of the series. I can hardly wait to share those with you, too. I've fallen in love with these characters and I hope you will as well.
