1.   What was your initial impression of Mel as a side character in the first two books in the series? Did you make certain assumptions about her that may have been challenged upon reading The Catch?

2.   How did Mel’s upbringing and childhood affect her relationship with fashion?

3.   At the beginning of the book, what is Mel’s relationship with fashion influencing? Do you get the impression she truly enjoys it, or is it a
means to an end? How does this change throughout the book?

4.   Mel is a lonely, closed-off character who tends to guard her heart. What factors in her childhood and upbringing have influenced this?

5.   What do you think Mel’s motivations were to pretend to be Evan’s fiancée after the boat accident? Would you go to such lengths to repair a family feud?

6.   How did Evan and the Whalers change the way Mel approaches relationships with people?
