The Snowmansion

Right from the endpapers, readers are immersed in a wordless, wintry world. . . . Visually, Lim’s snowballing spreads and discrete square panels glide along smoothly. Divinely diaphanous watercolors communicate complex ideas without a word. . . . Charmingly homey, in all the senses of the word.

Infused with lapis and indigo hues, digitally finished watercolor lends the smudgy, snow-filled presentation a moody cinematic feel. Winter’s chill leads to communal warmth in this jolly tale.
—Publishers Weekly

Lim’s watercolor illustrations, finished digitally, contrast the deep blue-purple hues of night with bright spots of orange and yellow, creating a palpable sense of winter warmth. In the absence of text, the characters’ expressive faces perfectly communicate the emotional beats of the story. A joyful and appealing wordless tale of friendship and winter magic.
—School Library Journal

Lim’s delicate watercolor illustrations are rendered in a gentle, frost-dusted color palette, with layered coloring that creates an enveloping winter evening. . . . This is the perfect story for an evening locked inside with little ones in need of a cheerfully imaginative story during the often-isolating lull of wintertime.
