A search for a renegade wolf leads Bruno to make a grisly discovery in this thrilling installment of Bruno, Chief of Police
When Bruno starts receiving panicked reports from farmers about missing livestock and sightings of a rabid wolf, he’s on the case. But even after he locates the animal, officials in Paris are still concerned, so they send famed wolf scientist Geraldine Poirer to help Bruno track down the rest of the pack. Bruno can’t help but notice Geraldine’s wit and beauty—as well as her devotion to nature—but he has little time to introduce her to the splendid vistas of the Perigord, much less cook her a nice meal. Bruno discovers that the wolves have unfortunately made their home at the site of an exciting new project planned by a businessman named Toby who wants to create what he calls, “The Garden of Extraordinary Plants,” a kind of Green Disneyland for tourists and locals alike. The team manages to trap the last wolf—and that’s where Bruno finds a skeleton caught in the roots of a fallen tree.
Does someone in the village have something to do with it? Or is this the missing puzzle piece to a much older, darker mystery, that could stretch as far back as the 1960s? Rest assured, Bruno will dig up the truth, all while serving the best spreads—think baguettes, brie, pâté, vin de noix—in the most beautiful hidden spots of the Dordogne.
