Perfect faces hide souls corrupted by AI and greed in this sci-fi thriller manga from the Eisner Award–nominated creator of The Yakuza’s Bias. Mixing the best of stylish, cyberpunk series like Ghost in the Shell and Persona with Teki Yatsuda’s most stunning and dynamic art yet, Myther breaks down genre walls to tell a story about dreams, crime, love, and ego that couldn’t be more timely.
In a glorious empire of light, a device called the Myther is changing the world. The flick of a switch on an elegant ear ornament activates a cutting-edge AI, which overwrites your personality with your custom-made, ideal self—a “data personality” called an If. Temporarily. But these Myther devices have somehow been escaping the lab and making their way into the hands of addicts, leading to a string of brutal murders. An elite government agent named Kyo has been tasked with tracking the source. But he himself is a data personality inhabiting an empty mind, and he’s just encountered a word in the real world that he recognizes from a dream: Vanitas. What could it mean, for Kyo and for the Myther itself?
