Part life philosophy, part financial clarity, and part real-world wisdom from a hugely popular estate planning attorney who has seen what happens when families plan and when they don’t.
I’m Sorry I’m Dead helps readers confront the reality of life’s end, not in a morbid way, but in a deeply empowering one. Estate planning attorney, entrepreneur, and best-selling author Pamela Maass Garrett aka Law Mother has helped thousands of families navigate what happens when someone dies. She has seen firsthand that the biggest problems families face are rarely legal: they are emotional, relational, and the result of decisions never made . . . siblings that stop speaking over a dispute about their parent’s home, a grieving widow locked out of bank accounts because she didn’t know how to get access, and families forced to guess about critical medical decisions. All of these problems can be easily avoided.
In this book, Garrett introduces a powerful mindset shift: when you face the end of life honestly, you begin living more intentionally today. Through compelling stories from real families, practical financial insights, and simple decision-making frameworks, readers learn how to take control of their lives before circumstances take control of them.
The book guides readers through the most important life decisions most people avoid:
Rather than overwhelming readers with technical legal details, I’m Sorry I’m Dead offers a clear philosophy and practical tools for making the decisions that matter most. The result is a life lived with greater clarity, stronger relationships, and the peace of knowing the people you love will be protected. This book is for anyone who wants to stop drifting through life and start deciding it.
