Chiara Marletto is a Research Fellow at Wolfson College and the University of Oxford Department of Physics. Her main research focus is theoretical physics, but she enjoys dabbling in theoretical biology, epistemology, and Italian literature. Some of her recent research has harnessed a recently proposed generalization of the theory of quantum computing–constructor theory–to address issues at the foundations of the theory of control and causation in physics. The ultimate goal of this research would be to define a general theory of the universal constructor–a machine that generalizes the universal computer to perform all transformations that are physically allowed, not just computations. This is her first book.
