Conor Dougherty is an economics reporter at The New York Times. He previously spent a decade in New York covering housing and the economy for The Wall Street Journal. His “Cramped and Costly” series, which examined the lack of affordable housing in American cities won The New York Society of Professional Journalists’ award for Beat Reporting. His pieces on housing are frequently among the Times’ most emailed. He lives in his hometown of San Francisco.
