About the Author

Valter Longo is the director of the Longevity Institute at University of Southern California in Los Angeles, and of the Laboratory on Longevity and Cancer at IFOM (the AIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology) in Milan. His studies focus on basic and clinical research on nutrition, aging, and diseases, with focus on cancer, Alzheimer, and cardiometabolic diseases. Dr. Longo received the 2010 Nathan Shock Lecture Award from the National Institute on Aging, the 2013 Vincent Cristofalo “Rising Star” Award in Aging Research from the American Federation for Aging Research, and the 2016 Glenn Award for research on the biology of aging. In 2018, Time magazine named him one of the 50 most influential people in healthcare and in 2021 Science magazine called him a pioneer in the nutrition and cancer field. He is the author of The Longevity Diet.
