Geoffrey Hinton, the “godfather of AI” and recipient of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics, is internationally renowned as a pioneer in the field of deep learning as a mode of artificial intelligence. He is a professor emeritus of the University of Toronto, a fellow of the UK’s Royal Society and the Royal Society of Canada, and an international member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Having devoted his research career to developing the artificial neural networks that kicked off the ongoing AI revolution, Hinton now advises policymakers and business leaders around the world on AI safety.
