Dawnie Walton is the author of The Final Revival of Opal & Nev, winner of the Aspen Words Literary Prize, the VCU Cabell First Novelist Award, the Mark Twain American Voice in Literature Award, and the Audie Award for Fiction. Formerly an editor at Essence and Entertainment Weekly, she is the cofounder of Ursa Story Company, a podcasting and storytelling venture, and co-hosts and produces its shows. She has been awarded fellowships from MacDowell, the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and other institutions, and currently teaches creative writing at Stony Brook University.
