KATE BEATON is a cartoonist from Unama’ki-Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. She is the New York Times–bestselling, award-winning author of Ducks: Two Years in the Oil Sands; Hark! A Vagrant; Step Aside, Pops; and the picture books Shark Girl, The Princess and the Pony, and King Baby. She served as an executive producer for Pinecone & Pony, an animated series for Apple TV. Kate has won multiple Eisner, Doug Wright, Harvey and Ignatz awards in the field of comics.
