Jesse Hines is a business writer in southeastern Virginia. He has won first place for local business coverage at the IFPA/SAPA Advertising and Editorial Awards. Hines, the oldest of six children, was homeschooled, and raised in a Southern Baptist church. Sports have been a significant part of his life since he was a boy, when he played baseball, basketball, or football with his brothers almost every day.
