About the Author

David Shannon is an author and illustrator of books for young readers. Prior to children’s books, he worked in editorial illustration in New York City, where his illustrations appeared in magazines and newspapers, including TimeNewsweek, Rolling Stone, and the New York Times, as well as on books and posters. He began illustrating children’s books in 1988 with How Many Spots Does a Leopard Have? And Other Tales by Julius Lester. His writing credits include How Georgie Radbourn Saved Baseball, which was named a New York Times best illustrated book in 1994,and the semiautobiographical story No, David!, which received a Caldecott Honor. He lives in Los Angeles with family.
