Barry Scheck is the cofounder, with Peter Neufeld, of the Innocence Project, a legal initiative dedicated to reforming the criminal justice system and exonerating, through DNA evidence, the wrongfully convicted. The Innocence Project represents more than 200 inmates seeking post-conviction release. Perhaps the most prominent civil rights lawyer in America, Scheck, along with Neufeld, represented the families of Amadou Diallo, Abner Louima, and the four black and Latino youths wrongfully shot by New York state troopers. Mr. Scheck is in private practice in New York City.
