Philip Jarrett was an assistant editor of Aeroplane Monthly magazine from its foundation in 1973, before serving ten years as a production editor of Flight International magazine. As a freelance writer and editor, he has produced countless articles and papers on a wide variety of aeronautical subjects, and also lectures on aviation topics. Author of Another Icarus: Percy Pilcher and the Quest for Flight, published by the Smithsonian Institution in 1987, and, for DK, The Color Encyclopedia of Incredible Airplanes and Ultimate Aircraft, he currently serves as an editor for authoritative Putnam History of Aircraft volumes.
