Shirley Raye Redmond is an author of numerous books for children, including the Step into Readings Tentacles! Tales of the Giant Squid, Lewis and Clark: A Prairie Dog for the President, and Fairies! A True Story. She and her husband, former Congressman Bill Redmond, have two grown children.

John Manders has illustrated many picture books including Cowboy Christmas, The Soldiers’ Night Before Christmas, and The Navy’s Night Before Christmas for Golden Books. He lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
