Earl Downs has been flying for more than 50 years, and has taught flying in the training department of a major airline as well as logging thousands of hours in lighter airplanes instructing beginner flyers. His writing has appeared in AOPA Flight Training magazine, EAA Sport Pilot/Light Sport Aircraft magazine, and The Oakland Aviator, which he owns and publishes. He is the coauthor, with Dan Ramsey, of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Sport Flying.
