Just Deserts

ERIC WALTERS is one of Canada’s best-known and most prolific writers of fiction for children and young adults. His books have won over 120 awards, including thirteen separate children’s choice awards, and have been translated into thirteen languages. He lives in Guelph, Ontario, and is the co-founder of Creation of Hope, a charity that provides care for orphans in the Mbooni district of Kenya. In 2006, former pack a day smoker Ray Zahab and two friends set out on an expedition to cross the Sahara Desert by foot. 111 days and 7,500 km after leaving the coast of Senegal, Africa, they completed their journey by stepping into the Red Sea. In 2008, Zahab became the founder of impossible2Possible (i2P), an organization that aims to inspire and educate youth through adventure learning.
