Muchos escribieron sobre Soda Stereo, pero pocos conocieron tanto a la banda como Marcelo Fernández Bitar. En los 80, durante la incandescente explosión del rock argentino que cambió para siempre el panorama musical latinoamericano, la acompañó de los sótanos del under a los estadios más grandes del país. En los 90, asistió al corazón de la reinvención sonora del grupo y presenció el último concierto en Venezuela y en Buenos Aires. En los 2000, vivió la trastienda del ya célebre retorno y documentó todo en el libro histórico Diario de gira. Y ahora -cuando la figura de Gustavo Cerati alcanzó su dimensión mítica definitiva y la música de Soda es parte del patrimonio continental- reconstruye, con el testimonio de quienes formaron parte del círculo más íntimo, los momentos más emblemáticos, los episodios más desconocidos y las decisiones más audaces.

Throughout its life, Soda Stereo grew to unimaginable heights. To this day, the band remains as big as it ever was… and this is its story.

Many have written about Soda Stereo, but few knew as much about the band as Marcelo Fernandez Bitar. In the 80s, during the huge explosion of Argentine rock which changed the Latin-American music scene forever, Marcelo was with them all along, from the underground performances to the largest stadiums. In the 90s, he witnessed the band’s musical reinvention and revival, and was there during their last concerts in Venezuela and Buenos Aires. In the 2000s, he took part in the logistical backend of their now famous return, a tour for which he documented everything to become the historical book Diario de gira / Diary of a Tour.

And now, as Soda’s music is part of the continent’s cultural heritage, Marcelo takes testimony from those who were part of their most intimate circles, and reconstructs the band’s most emblematic moments, various unknown anecdotes, and their most audacious decisions. For the first time a book recreates the true story of the band that forever changed the way Spanish rock is listened to and watched, not only in Argentina but throughout Latin America.
