Discussion Questions:

1. What did you first think of Wes and Ivy? Did your opinion of them change over the course of the book and, if so, how?

2. Wes and Ivy’s relationship is the driving force of the story. Some characters are unwittingly drawn into their drama. Others choose to insert themselves into it. How did this affect the relationship? How does it affect your opinion of it?

3. Karen’s history with men has affected her deeply. Did you sympathize with Karen? Do you consider her likable or unlikable?

4. Some of the things Wes and Ivy do to each other are extremely dramatic, while others are far more common. For example: actively trying to make your partner jealous, ghosting someone, drunk dialing/texting, anxiously waiting for a call when you’re out with friends. Have you ever done any of these? If so, did your personal experiences affect your opinion of Wes and Ivy?

5. Was it logical for Karen to conclude that Ivy was being abused in her relationship, given the information she had?

6. Compare and contrast the relationships between Wes and Ivy and between Karen and her husband. How are they different? How are they the same? Which relationship is better (or worse)?

7. Heath is an integral part of Wes and Ivy’s story, yet we never see his perspective. How much of what happened was his fault (if any of it)? Where would Wes and Ivy be now if he hadn’t been so involved?

8. Bianca is another character who chose to involve herself in this situation. Did your feelings about her change as the story evolved? How and why?

9. Who did you root for (if anyone) and why?

10. What do you think is going on with Wes and Ivy at the end?
