Perfections

A propulsive family saga about one powerful Thai dynasty and the intrigue surrounding their high-stakes succession, by the acclaimed author of Welcome Me to the Kingdom

Champagne, an opportunistic male model, is hired by the eldest daughter of an extremely rich Thai family—the Sirisings—to live in their house. The reasons why are dubious. When he gets there, Champ finds himself in the middle of a battle for succession.

Prin, the savvy eldest son, picked by their mother to lead, has invested almost all of their enormous fortune—collected through heavy investment in the red light district—into fertility clinics that screen embryos for “advantageous” traits, a service tailored to keep the elite in their positions of privilege. But then Prin’s two sisters, Risa and Jin, return home, and the game for control of the family is back on.

Champagne can tell there’s more going on than meets the eye, and he struggles to find his role in their story. But he does knows that he has had a recurring vision since he was younger: a vision that he ends up rich. And if he’s this close to astronomical wealth, he might as well try to make it real.

As Champagne and the other residents of the Sirising house navigate the fault lines between astronomical wealth and poverty in a society dominated by the ultra-rich, they confront the demons that have plagued the family for years—the past, the origins of their wealth, and each other.

Perfections is a stunning family saga and a deliciously plotted mystery, one that asks what we inherit from our parents, if we can change our fate, and what we’re willing to give up in the process.
