Hair Love ABCs

Matthew A. Cherry is an Academy Award winner for the animated short Hair Love and author of the New York Times bestselling children’s book of the same name. He created the animated series Young Love and directs television series, feature films, and music videos. A Chicago native, he began his career as an NFL wide receiver before transitioning into entertainment.Reggie Brown is a New York Times bestselling illustrator passionate about bringing stories of Black children and families to life. A 2023 California Arts Council Established Artist Fellow, his notable work includes picture book illustrations for Who Are Your People?, Little Big Man, and Bros. Based in San Diego, Reggie draws constant inspiration from his love of sci-fi, fantasy, and superhero narratives. When he isn’t illustrating his next picture book, he can be found experimenting with digital art or spending time with his wife and daughter.
