“One of the most exciting YA horror writers working today.” —Melinda Salisbury, author of Her Dark Wings
There’s something on those moors that likes to hunt young maidens for sport….
Senior Hazel Fletcher is thrilled when she scores the lead in her high school theater group’s latest production: a doomed romance inspired by local legends of a fearsome huntsman who once rode over the moors. Reclusive and talented, the Edgemoor Players usually keep their parts—and their secrets—to themselves, most of all Roman Cavalero, their enigmatic leading man.
That was then. Now, months later, no one dares talk about the play, its disastrous final performance, or the eerie events that dogged their rehearsals.
When Hazel is unexpectedly reunited with her old castmates on an extra-credit camping trip, the group finds themselves holed up in a ruined church, deep within the wintry fold of an ancient wood. There, tragedy strikes, and Hazel and the rest of the Players are forced to confront old fears and reckon with a deadly truth: What they started last year isn’t over.
Months ago, the Edgemoor Players woke something up—and now it won’t rest until it hunts down its prey.
