Discussion Questions:
1. For much of Sky’s story, she feels like everyone around her is surpassing her, like she just can’t keep up when it comes to “adulting.” Have you ever felt like you were left behind like this by your friends and family? What do you think of the way Sky resolves this?
2. Sky says of Adam’s need for “proof” of her gift with animals that the mindset he encompasses believes “a thing must be seen in order to be known.” Do you agree or disagree with this belief? How can a thing be known without “seeing” it or otherwise proving it in a Western scientific way?
3. How do you think communicating with each other virtually and anonymously helped Adam and Sky become closer offline?
4. At what point do you think Adam fell in love with Sky—or was it more of a longer process than a moment? When did Sky fall for Adam?
5. The first we hear of a cult in Cranberry is in the first book of the series, Witch of Wild Things. We finally learn more about it in Sky’s story through her investigation. If you’ve been following from the beginning, did you have any predictions on the cult and Nadia’s role in it? Or did these developments surprise you, and if so, how?
6. Sky has spent eight years in a supernatural sleep in the woods. Missing out on life for that long took its toll, especially on her social interactions and self-esteem. How different do you think it would be eight years from the current year? If you missed those years like Sky did,
how do you think you’d catch up and cope?
7. Sky’s ability to communicate with animals means she can call for their help when needed and sense them anytime she tunes in. What
would you do with these abilities? Which animal would you call upon the most?
8. Nadia gives Sky the deed to the house in one of the last scenes of the book. She suggests that all the sisters and their families live there in the near future. Do you think Sage and Teal would move back in? How do you imagine that household would be?
