Baby-Toddler–This short story describes how animal parents care for and show their little ones love. The vibrant and beautifully illustrated book, which includes cutouts of various textures, features a deer and fawn, a fox and cub, and mice and bird parent and baby pairs, as well as lesser-known animals, including a marten and kit and swan and cygnet. The story takes place in a winter landscape and is told through short and lovely rhyming text that ends with “So at this time and all year through, know in your heart that I love you”—a perfect ending, sure to induce cuddles. A Christmas tree, although not prominent, is included on the last page. VERDICT A sweet addition to winter board book collections. Children will love the cutouts with beautifully drawn illustrations peeking through, and caregivers will love another opportunity to cuddle with their little ones. —School Library Journal
