Mystery at the Lighthouse

The Alden children were searching for a home–and found a life of adventure! Embark on an exciting journey with the Boxcar Children in this Step 2 leveled reader as they investigate a mysterious figure in the night! Perfect for early readers learning to read simple sentences.

The Alden siblings are on their way home! When the children notice an old lighthouse along the drive, they get a great idea—to have a picnic, of course! But even better than a picnic, apparently you can stay in the old lighthouse! The Aldens are so excited to stay in such a cool house but they keep noticing some strange things at night. Could there be more to the lighthouse than they thought? Adapted from Gertrude Chandler Warner’s The Lighthouse Mystery chapter book, this early reader allows children to start reading with a Boxcar Children classic.

Step 2 Readers use basic vocabulary and short sentences to tell simple stories. For children who recognize familiar words and can sound out new words with help.
