Ghost Barn

Praise for Ghost Barn

“Verdon’s ninth and final fair-play puzzle featuring private detective Dave Gurney is a fitting send-off for an exemplary series . . . Verdon constructs an intricate, surprising mystery without sacrificing an ounce of characterization. This swan song cements Gurney’s place in the PI hall of fame.” —Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“Verdon is after something radically different . . . with an axe murder and an explosion loud enough to rattle the pages.” —Booklist

“I have been an embarrassingly big fan of John Verdon for almost twenty years. His novels feel at once old-fashioned and shockingly new, and his hero, Dave Gurney, is one of the more intriguing American detectives of an era with several great ones. I’ve never been let down by a Verdon novel and Ghost Barn is yet another winner, a novel as surprising as it is prescient about the times we find ourselves living in. This is a perfect culmination of a series that has riveted me for a long time from a writer who has just gotten better with each book, and I can’t speak highly enough about it. Verdon is simply one of the best to ever do it.” —Will Lavender, author of Dominance

Praise for the Dave Gurney Series

“John Verdon writes grown-up detective novels, by which I mean stories with intelligent plots, well-developed characters and crimes that have social consequences.” —The New York Times Book Review
