A construction parallel to the eventful life of Arnau, a serf running away from his feudal lord’s abuse, taking refuge in Barcelona, where he becomes a citizen and, therefore, a free man.
Young Arnau works as a groom, a longshoreman, a soldier, and a money changer. A strenuous life, always sheltered by the cathedral of the sea, a place that would take him from the fugitive’s misery to nobility and wealth. But with this privileged position also comes the envy of his peers, plotting a sordid conspiracy that puts his life in the hands of the Inquisition.
Cathedral of the Sea is a plot where loyalty and revenge, betrayal and love, war and plague intertwine in a world marked by religious intolerance, material ambition, and social segregation.
