After the battle at the Kyoto fox village, Kabane wakes up in an unfamiliar land. There he is reunited with his former enemy Robara and learns that three years have passed. During that time, Japan has transformed into a country ruled by Inari and completely isolated from the rest of the world. It is a bizarre scene in which many people’s minds have been taken over and inhuman beings walk the streets. But even in these dire circumstances, those who forged bonds with Kabane have continued the fight, believing in his safe return.
Kabane fought alongside Raiden and his team to defeat Yone, the chief of the Kyoto foxes, and obtain the yangstone. But Kaede swallowed the stone, and when Kabane reached out to take it back, the yin and yangstones were drawn together and fused, swallowing the whole area in a bright light. The ancient warning said: “The yinstone and the yangstone must never be brought together.” Kabane opens his eyes to find himself in a strange land. Where has he been taken?
Yone attempts to produce a child for Mikuzu-sama by pairing Sakura of the Kyoto foxes with Kon, who carries the blood of the Ishimori foxes. But Kaede barges in during the ritual and chaos ensues. Nobimaru, who had been keeping an eye out for his chance to take the yangstone, and Raiden, who was hoping to save Kon, take advantage of the situation to make their moves. Yone is furious that her ritual has been interrupted. With the power acquired by sacrificing the faithful of her village, she is a terror to behold, and directs her wrath at Kabane and Tsubaki. Will they succeed in reaching Kaede and the others?
Kabane and his friends have infiltrated the Kyoto fox village, but the fox illusions make them lose consciousness and get separated. Urabe wakes up first and manages to meet up with Kon and Thin in the Yamamomo area, where the commoners live. They set out to rescue the civilians who were taken captive, but are attacked by a fox called Enju. Meanwhile, Kabane, Shiki, and Akira receive a visit from the daughter of the village chief, Sakura. Her goal was to help Tsubaki find the yin- and yangstones that were hidden in the village, but what will happen now?
Genji and the kemono hold a contest to decide the leader in the search for the Kyoto fox lair. After three intense battles, Kabane and his friends are losing two to one, but now Kabane is up against a young recruit named Sakata. He seems to want to say something about Kaede, who is now being kept in a cage… What’s even more concerning is Raiden’s emotional state–before the leaders go head to head, he claims Inugami killed his sister.
Kabane and his friends have gone to see the Kyoto foxes to learn more about Inari’s past, and they decide to try and find a member of Genji, the division of the Kyoto Police Department that specializes in kemono investigations. But every member of Genji is human, and it seems that their leader Minamoto Raiden has a “special” place in his heart for tanuki…. As Genji works out a plan to infiltrate a Kyoto fox lair, they suggest a contest against Kabane and company, but can humans and kemono really play together?
The assault launched against Reverse Yashima by the two foxes comes to an end when Akagi falls, burned up in the flames of the peace he always longed for. Kabane, his friends, and the Shikoku tanuki all breathe a sigh of relief over this hard-won victory, but the emotional fatigue takes an even greater toll than all their scrapes and bruises. As they discuss what to do with their prisoner Kaede and how to obtain the remaining stones, more sad news comes to Yashima…
To protect the tanuki living behind the illusions at Yashima from their attackers, their leader Tasaburo Tanuki III challenges the foxes alone. Meanwhile, Kabane and his friends finish their training with Fukuhime while on route to Yashima, where they see that Kaede and Akagi have joined together to become a giant fire fox. Wanting to repay the Yashima tanuki for all their help, including trusting him with their treasure, Kabane meets up with Kon, and together they head to battle.
Kabane and his friends are training in a special space created by Iyohime’s father Tarouta. Meanwhile, Nobimaru visits Inugami and talks about the foxes’ upcoming attack on Yashima and the possibility of working together to stop the mission. However, an unexpected and ominous shadow approaches… What will come of its beautiful yet cruel flames?
Inari cuts a terrifying figure as she continues her relentless pursuit of the stones, and Nobimaru seems to be up to something behind the scenes… Meanwhile, having defeated Haru at the Ouga Ham factory, Kabane asks Inugami to train him. Shiki and Akira join in, and the four of them make their way to the mountains of Gunma, where they should find an old friend of Inugami’s.
A friend, a family member, a lover…everyone has someone they care about. And because of that, sometimes, they will fight desperately not to lose that someone. Inside the Ouga Ham factory, Kabane and Inugami work together in a joint attack against Haru and the other foxes in a battle over the stones, but Inugami is taken hostage by an unexpected opponent. Can Kabane save him?
Now with five kemono stones in her possession, Inari smiles bewitchingly and speaks of monopolizing the food supply. Learning of her evil plot to use the humans under her command as food to control the kemono, Kabane and his friends visit the Ouga Ham factory. They split up into two parties, one to destroy the factory and another to find the stones. But the foxes have arrived first, and our heroes are met by a scene out of a nightmare!
Having defeated Inari’s assassins Akagi and Kaede in an intense death match, Kabane receives the flowstone from the Orochi clan and now has a total of four stones. Meanwhile, Inugami has gone to Fukuoka in search of the purestone, and has to fight a sumo match against the kappa. Elsewhere, the shadow of a fox creeps near Akira as he travels with Yui…are they in danger?
Kabane and Shiki head to Yatsukubi Village in Shimane Prefecture looking for the kemono stones that are scattered across the country. They find the village deserted, as quiet as the grave, till they’re approached by a suspicious individual claiming to be with the police. Then a girl appears who seems to be in trouble–she’s injured and has a small child with her. What unexpected places will this search take them?
Inugami, Kabane, and Kon visit Yashima in Shikoku, a well-known home of tanuki kemono. Kabane agrees to undergo a trial in order to gain the tanuki’s illusion stone, but this will be no ordinary trial. Meanwhile, Kon has secret orders to take Kabane’s stone, but a change is brewing inside her…
