Age-Appropriate YA Romances That Teens Will Love

by Dena McMurdie

As the mom of two teenage girls and one tween, I know how challenging it can be to find YA books written with actual teenagers in mind. Many YA books feature older teens and 20-somethings, making it difficult to find age-appropriate romance novels for middle- and high-schoolers. So, I’ve rounded up several young adult books that offer a blissful romantic escape, a happy-for-now ending, and plenty of swoon-worthy (but not blush-inducing) moments.

I’ve read some of these titles myself, and combed through dozens of reader reviews for the rest. Of course, everyone’s idea of “age-appropriate” is different, so if you are concerned about any of your teen’s reading material, I always recommend reading it yourself first.

So, if you are looking for some super-cute, non-spicy, and age-appropriate romance novels to hand to your teen, here are some excellent choices.

    Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute

    by Talia Hibbert

Teens who love witty banter, stolen kisses, and enemies-to-lovers tropes will enjoy this award-winning and New York Times bestselling romance novel. When ex-best friends turned rivals, Celine and Bradley, get paired up during a wilderness survival course, they have no choice but to resolve their issues. As they trudge through the woods and their past miscommunications, they can no longer deny their feelings for each other.
