In my opinion, Trevor Noah is one of the most versatile storytellers of this generation. In Born a Crime, he did a beautiful job of recounting difficult memories, through humor, lightness, and pedagogy. If you want to genuinely laugh out loud and gain some insights into South Africa’s history, this is a must-read.

Do yourself a favor, and read every single book that Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has written! She is a legend in the world of African literature and Americanah is definitely a classic. This book opened the way for so many incredible contemporary African stories to be told on a global stage, but also allowed so many African women like me to finally have a main character they could relate to.
