A dark academia set in a magical school with just a dash of a possible romance? I love all of these tropes, and A Deadly Education completely delivers on every single one. El is one of my favorite protagonists I have read in a long time, and she is so much more than your traditional heroine. El is capable of destruction but chooses to do good – when she isn’t ignoring everyone else, that is. She is critical of the world and the people around her, creating an incredibly nuanced story. This dark magical novel checks all of my boxes, and I am so excited to continue exploring the Scholomance trilogy.

Arsenic and Adobo
by Mia P. Manansala
I have wanted to read this book for years, and I finally listened to the entire audiobook on a road trip and loved it. This was my first cozy mystery and I have found my new niche as well as a new series to dive into! Yes, this book is a murder mystery with a dash of family restaurant drama, but I was not expecting to become so enamored with the people of Shady Palms. I found Lila’s journey to make a place for herself very relatable, especially as a Midwestern gal myself. Warning: this book will make you hungry.

The Bright Sword
by Lev Grossman
This is my current read and I have enjoyed exploring this Arthurian world! I love anything having to do with legends and folklore, and I have always been a bit of a Knights of the Round Table nerd, so this feels like it was made for me. The Bright Sword fits well into the Arthurian mythos I enjoy while bringing a new twist on the story to life. This is my first major epic fantasy and Lev Grossman’s reimagining is exactly where I want to start. Plus, I always love a group of misfits becoming a found family. This cover is also absolutely stunning, and I am so excited to get my hands on a physical copy as soon as it comes out!
