James Spooner is an accomplished tattoo artist, illustrator, and filmmaker. Director of the seminal documentary Afro-Punk and co-founder of the AFROPUNK Festival, he is the author and illustrator of the highly acclaimed and award-winning graphic novel The High Desert and co-editor of the anthology Black Punk Now. Spooner’s work has appeared in Vice, The Village Voice, The New Yorker, Vibe, Fader, MTV, NPR, NBC News, and Variety and he is an ongoing guest curator for museums and libraries across the country.
