Steve Laffey was elected mayor of Cranston, Rhode Island, in 2002, and reelected by the widest margin in Cranston history in 2004. Before entering politics he had had a successful career in finance, including a stint as president and COO of Morgan Keegan, an investment bank in Memphis.
