Iris Rainer Dart is the author of the classic novel Beaches, which was made into a movie of the same name starring Bette Midler. She lives in Pebble Beach, California. In addition to her novels, Ms. Dart has written for television, including credits for The Sonny and Cher Show, and is the playwright of several stage musicals.
