Catherine Rondeau

“Daydreaming like I do all the time has its downsides though. I rarely know what day it is and I once went to a meeting with some big shots only to later find half a dozen rollers in the back of my hair.”–Catherine Rondeau

Letter to the fans

My dear Collectopia fan,

I am so incredibly lucky to be having the chance to speak directly to you in this letter. From the instant Collectopia was born, I have been thinking and wondering about you. The most important thing I wanted to create was a place where every girl, no matter where she comes from or what she looks like, would feel at home. Just as it is for some of you, growing up was not an easy time for me. I was often frightened, confused, and felt very much alone in the world. My imagination became my home and a place where I could be myself.
As you explore Collectopia, remember that I want you to have fun. I hope you’ll try new things, even if they seem hard at first, and make some new friends along the way. Most of all, I want so much for you to know how incredibly special you are. I really, really mean that. Exploring new ideas and activities will help you to better understand who you truly are and what you like and don’t like. Stay true to your heart and be honest with yourself. Everyone in Collectopia knows this is the secret to true happiness. I wish you all the happiness and love you deserve.

Your friend,
Catherine Rondeau

Catherine Rondeau’s Biography

Catherine Rondeau is a writer, artist, inventor, and corporate creative consultant. Born in Paris but raised in Connecticut, where she graduated from Wesleyan University, Catherine became an inventor when the first idea she took to a company sold. She has created hundreds of toys and games like Girl Talk, Encore, and Lovies blankets for toddlers. She has three deliciously funny sons–Justin, Brian, and Kevin–who tease her constantly. But luckily, she has an equally wicked sense of humor. For fun, Catherine loves the arts: sculpting, painting, scriptwriting, live concerts, gardening, and anything outdoors.
Fluent in French and Norwegian, Catherine loves words and language, and has had the good fortune to see much of the world, including a magical safari in Tanzania. Most of the time, however, you can catch her at home in Connecticut, knee-deep in some messy project or outside cajoling her roses.
