Dr. Tony Bates is a clinical psychologist with more than 30 years of experience. He served as principal clinical psychologist at St. James Hospital in Dublin and established the Trinity College Dublin’s master of science in cognitive psychotherapy. In 2007 he helped establish Headstrong, the National Centre for Youth Mental Health. He wrote biweekly for the Irish Times for over seven years. Currently he is writing a weekly column to explore “living mindfully.” Dr. Bates has appeared on many radio television programmes on youth mental health, depression, and suicide.
