Books To Help Understand 9/11
On September 11, 2001, two commercial airplanes were hijacked and flown into the World Trade Center in New York City by members of Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda. A third plane hit the Pentagon outside of Washington, D.C., and a fourth plane was taken back by the passengers and flown into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
The tragedy took nearly 3,000 lives and led to a “war on terrorism” that is still being felt today. Learn more about 9/11 through these nonfiction titles, including first-hand accounts from Ground Zero, a full history of the conflict leading up to (and after) 9/11, poetry reflecting on the attacks, and more.
