Romance Novels With Memorable Meet-Cutes
Meet-Cute: an amusing or charming first encounter between two characters that leads to the development of a romantic relationship between them (dictionary.com)
Every romance reader lives for the pinnacle moment of that first moment when the main characters first lock eyes (or lips or horns). They can be whimsical and charming, or even sexy, like tripping and gracefully toppling face-first into your soulmate’s hard, chiseled chest. Magic aside, sometimes cute is not an accurate way to describe the first meeting. Sometimes these encounters are full-body cringe. Sometimes they involve the mortification of one or both parties, bodily fluids, grave injuries, or even near-death experiences. Morbid or gross? Possibly, but hear me out. This is what makes them memorable! Inject the chaos into my veins. The messiness. The second-hand embarrassment. The botched first words. The inability to function around someone so unfortunately attractive. There’s just something about watching two fictional characters fall headfirst into love imperfectly that makes me giggle and kick my feet. Here are some gloriously messy, unforgettable meet-cutes that have taken up permanent residence in my brain.
